Malta’s Capital City : VALLETTA
The capital of Malta is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. Its 320 monuments, all within an area of 55 ha, make it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world.
Our guided tour will take you around the lively streets of the capital. Starting from the gate and the defensive bastions that surround this majestic city, moving on inside by the parliament and old theater. We then proceed with an interesting walk where we can appreciate the capital`s buildings of historical importance including the Order of St John’s Auberges, the palaces in Merchant Street, the Grand Master’s Palace and many more. Next we go to St John`s Co-Cathedral that brims in riches with its contrasting decorated interior and also holds an impressive display of Baroque art, including the acclaimed Caravaggio painting that is on display in the Oratory of this opulent Cathedral. Finally, we will take a short break at Barrakka Gardens, also built by the Knights, to appreciate breath-taking views of the Grand Harbour and the fortified Three Cities, as well as a canon shot from the saluting battery.
An optional Treasure Hunt in Valletta can be organized at no additional charge.
