Everyday – All year round
Overview
This trip takes you to the hilltop village of Wardija where you will meet Sammy, the founder of Wardija Olive Press.
The experience starts with an informative passage through the history of olive oil on the islands and its making. You will see various indigenous trees and get to know about various techniques related to the growing, harvesting, and pressing of these precious fruits into what is renowned as one of the best olive oils in the world.
You will then proceed to the tasting session, starting with the different variants of the oil by itself or with a crispy ftira dipped in it, finishing off with combining the oil with various typical Maltese delicacies creating the famous hobz biz-zejt.
After the degustation, the transport will pick you up to go visit the beautiful walled city of Mdina, old capital of Malta. It was home then, as now, to Malta’s noble families; who made Mdina their home from the 12th century onwards. You will be able to see its impressive palaces, narrow shady streets, churches and admire the view of the island from this high hill it has been built on.
